When extracting oils from flowers for perfumery, a natural solid wax is left behind and is often discarded because it makes the essential oils cloudy. This precious exude is resilient and stable and often contains notes that are more true to the living profile of the blossom. A perfect base to create a perfume solid, we’ve blended this botanical treasure with flower pommades that are handmade through the ancient method of enfleurage, extractions that happen with labor and time and not heat.
Making each floral enfleurage is a lengthy and delicate process. Each day bushels of fresh, young flowers are left to infuse a butter-like pommade with their fragrance. As the blossoms are changed the pommade becomes abundantly suffused with the scent and soul of each flower, an ancient way of perfume making that cannot be duplicated by speeding things up with heat or modern machinery.
