Hand carved ironwood conch shell from the American Southwest. Ironwood carvings originated with the Seri indigenous people of Sonora, Mexico in the 1960's as a way to earn money from tourists after the collapse of their fishing industry.
Shell is approximately 10" long x 3.5" tall. This piece is vintage.
