Lush and lactonic, the soft scent of this exotic perfumed body oil is delicate spring honeysuckle and tropical frangipani flowers in a base of ambrosial blue tansy plant oil. Our flower oils are handmade by artisan growers that extract the precious essences using an ancient method of perfumery known as enfleurage. Heat can be applied to flowers to quickly distill their oils but in that process, delicate blossoms are destroyed and the scent is altered. Enfleurage is labor-intensive and requires constant vigilance over a much longer period of time but the result is a flower extraction that is as close to the living profile of the plant that you can get in perfumery. Darkness I Will Release is a harbinger of summer for us and this year’s edition is especially limited because of the small amounts of oil that have been extracted and the limited quantity of bottles that this glassblower will produce in one edition.
How To Use
Use Darkness I Will Release all over the body as a healing and rejuvenating hydrator, on the face as an anti-aging and healing facial oil, or as a captivating but subtle perfume oil. Especially beneficial for dry, stressed, and aging skin.

Our organic frangipani enfleurage oil is extracted in South America by a small, artisan grower and one of the few remaining operations in the world still producing scents through this labor intensive and ancient process. The revival of the enfleurage technique has permitted extraction of oils from species of flowers whose blossoms cannot withstand steam distillation. The scent is exquisite and the benefits to skin and soul numerous – a softly aphrodisiac oil, frangipani is relaxing and soothing to the mind and its astringent qualities help to balance the skin's production of oil. Each graceful and otherworldly azure glass bottle is individually hand blown by a glass artist in Massachusetts who makes her editions in very limited quantities. This year's edition is extra voluminous and holds nearly 5 ounces of delightfully hand crafted body oil. Blown egg-shell thin and in the most ethereal deep oceanic blue, it is an elegant addition to the Slow Beauty vanity.
The Ancient Art of Enfleurage
Enfleurage is an ancient and labor intensive way of producing perfume oils from flowers. The revival of this technique has permitted extraction of oils from species of flowers whose blossoms cannot withstand steam distillation. Carried out entirely by hand, fresh, fully opened flowers are placed on glass chassis in fat and the blossoms are changed for fresh ones every day for approximately one month. At the end of the process, the fat is infused with the pure, rich scent from the exhaling flowers and the flower oil can then be separated from the fat using all-natural cane sugar alcohol. What’s left is pure, clean flower essence created without heat or harsh chemical solvents. The scents are true to the original flower and can inspire waves of nostalgic recognition that no synthetic fragrance can duplicate.
