Description
A solid sterling silver spoon tool for our lip and cheek colors, salves, and solid perfumes. This heirloom piece is cast and hand finished by our traditional bench jeweler, an artisan that has been working with fine metals for more than fifty years. In medieval art and folklore, the devil was the tempter of humankind and a symbol of the fragile boundary between the sacred and the profane. One of the more haunting medieval symbols was the Hellmouth, the open jaws of a monstrous beast devouring the damned, that represented the entrance to the underworld. At once beautiful and grotesque, these demonic symbols revealed a fascination with what lies beyond the veil and served as a warning of the consequences of transgression.
