Lobmeyr Alpha Crystal Pitcher and Tumblers

Handmade in Austria and designed by Hans Harald Rath for Lobmeyr. J.& L. Lobmeyr crystal is hand blown, cut, and polished; every Lobmeyr piece must pass through at least 24 pairs of hands and four quality controls before leaving the facility. A determination to balance shape and function while achieving excellence in design are the principles by which each piece of J.& L. Lobmeyr crystal is made.  

In 1823 craftsmen Josef Lobmeyr Sr. founded Lobmeyr in Vienna’s Weihburggasse and was soon after commissioned to provide crystal to the Imperial Courts of Austria. Nearly 200 years later the company is in its sixth generation and has been continuously owned and operated by the family since. Detailed records and pencil drawings still exist from the very first days of the company and families with specific monograms have been able to re-order their crystal generation after generation.
