The Ingredients
At the heart of Sun is an Andean Mountain lily flower, grown at 1,600 meters above sea level in a sun-drenched microclimate in South America. The essence of this precious bloom is captured through the ancient, labor-intensive art of enfleurage, yielding a soft, buttery floral oil that is as light as high mountain air. The name lily comes from the Latin lilium, and the flower is associated with the emergence of higher consciousness and insight.
Sandalwood is one of the most spiritually charged materials in perfumery. True sandalwood comes from the golden heartwood of slow-growing trees, a resource once jealously guarded and used for sacred rituals. For thousands of years, it has had a place in healing, meditation, and rites of devotion, burned in temples and applied to the skin to focus the mind. Creamy, warm, and gently sweet, sandalwood’s aroma can help to dissolve mental static and create an environment of focused presence.
The foundation of Sun is a grounding current of rare White Frankincense, wild-harvested by the Samburu women of Northern Kenya and micro-distilled from fresh, naturally exuded resin. This frankincense is soft, sweet, and expansive, with notes of warm balsam, pine, and a faint touch of vanilla-like musk. Its presence in the blend is both subtle and profound – it opens the breath, quiets the inner noise, and creates the mental clarity that precedes creativity.
To ground the brightness, we’ve added guava leaf, artisan-distilled in microbatches on a sustainable Rastafarian farm along the wild, green coastline of Jamaica’s North Shore. Grown without chemicals and in harmony with the land, guava leaf brings a fresh, herbal clarity. Its aromatic profile is clean and subtly earthy, an anchoring note that encourages emotional steadiness and mental balance amid intensity or overstimulation.
