The Backstory

The Gamine of Greenwich Village was a nickname for the celebrated poet, Edna St. Vincent Millay. Living in New York City during its bohemian heyday in the 1920’s, Millay engaged in numerous affairs with men and women alike and earned a reputation as sexually free, a woman that didn’t conform to the strictures placed on the women of her era.
