Our Sunlit Rose Salve is handmade in small batches by infusing fresh Sonoran Desert jojoba oil with new rose petals and then combining the blossom infused oil with a precious rose otto oil from The Valley of Roses in Bulgaria.

The cultivation of roses in Bulgaria dates back to the 16th century, when the first rose plantations sprang up in the town of Kazanlak because of its favorable climate and soil conditions. As the region grew and new plantations opened, the area became known as The Valley of Roses and for hundreds of years the fertile and temperate valley has produced the highest quality roses in the world.

A wondrous and refreshing scent for the body, rose is also an intoxicating and aromatherapeutic perfume that has been shown to act as an antidepressant and to relieve nervous tension.

Each glass vessel and solid glass vanity lid is hand blown in the USA by a master glass artisan and ships wax and cork sealed.

Some Background
The fresh, wild rose has been used for thousands of years to heal and scent the skin. The ancient Egyptians were known to boil whole roses to create balms that would protect their skin from the harsh and dry desert conditions. Aristocratic Roman women created rose petal poultices, believing the rose to be a powerful tool to combat aging. The Persians invented steam distillation to extract the precious oil for skin and medieval women treated their scars and scented their bodies with the luxurious rose water and oil.
