Charms of Protection
The mano figa, literally translated as "fig hand" is known as a magically protective talisman to ward off evil curses and bad energy. Made of 14k gold and solid aquamarine, this talisman is particularly powerful because Aquamarine is said to magnify whatever occult powers the wearers possess. It can also counteract the lure of dark spirits and demons and at one time was thought to be an antidote to poisoning. Derived from the Roman word “aqua,” meaning water, and “mare,” meaning sea, the legend goes that these shimmery aqua stones have been taken from the treasure of mermaids to protect sailors from the perils of the sea and cure their seasickness. Paired with a solid 18k gold corna, the Italian horn amulet, a charm of protection worn for thousands of years to ward off bad luck and the malocchio or evil eye, one of the most ancient superstitions in Italy.
