Description
An heirloom passed down from the Medici gardens of 17th century Tuscany, La Regina is a complex and harmonious floral created in micro batches with sensual, musky Grand Duke Jasmine emboldened by a bouquet of plump peony flower, bright, sharp neroli blossoms, and velvety tuberose and then refined with a base of peppery green hyacinth and herbaceous geranium. The flower oils in this small batch perfume oil are extracted using the ancient and laborious method of enfleurage, a process that does not employ heat or chemical solvents, creating lush, graceful notes that are true to the experience of the living plant.

Also known as Arabian jasmine, Grand Duke Jasmine is named for Cosimo III de’ Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, a collector of rare plants and the first in Europe to breed the flower in a special greenhouse in Florence. The Grand Duke was so enamored of the lush, fragrant blossoms that in trying to end Spain’s domination of fine chocolate making, he ordered that his court create a jasmine chocolate drink made by layering jasmine petals over cocoa “dough” and allowing the dough to sit and infuse with the heady petals for nearly two weeks before serving. The luxurious infusion became a highly sought after delicacy in the European courts.
La Regina is descended from the noble Grand Duke Jasmine of Tuscany. A rich, harmonious floral, the sensual and musky jasmine is emboldened by a bouquet of plump peony flower, bright, sharp neroli blossoms, creamy tuberose and then refined with a base of peppery green hyacinth and herbaceous geranium.
