Marlow Goods

Marlow Goods is an extension of Marlow & Sons restaurant and Marlow & Daughters butcher shop and grocery in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Serving 100% grass fed beef in the restaurants, owners Andrew Tarlow and Kate Huling developed relationships with farmers and slaughterhouses in the North Eastern United States. Harking back to the ways that our ancestors thought about animal butchery the pair worked on what they call a “whole animal program” where no part of the animal is discarded and everything is used for some functional purpose. Finding a tannery in upstate NY that would custom tan small batches of the cow and pig hides of the animals being served in the restaurants, Marlow Goods was formed to make simple and long wearing accessories from the unused hides. The tanning is all done with chestnut tannins and is a natural process, very much in contrast to the process of most modern tanneries. So safe in fact that Kate says she brings her kids to the tannery to participate in the process and gloves aren’t even necessary to do the work.
