Description
Hand harvested on the shores of Nisyros in Greece's Dodecanese, where perfectly sized pumice stones wash ashore from the nearby Gyali – a volcanic islet known for its obsidian and large pumice deposits. Nature's best exfoliator, pumice stone has been used since ancient times to soften skin (in ancient Greek and Roman times it was even used to remove excess hair.) Naturally occurring, pumice is the result of high-water, high-gas content lava – as the gas escapes, the lava becomes frothy, cools, and hardens into a very light porous rock material, perfect for sloughing off dead skin cells from dry winter feet.
