Description
Lavey Glass Works French iridescent glass opercula shell. Opercula or "little lids" are from the Mexican Turbo snail. Opercula act as a small door that can be closed when the soft body of the snail is retracted. Once used as gaming tokens and at one point they were even ground down to form a medicinal powder that was applied to the umbilical stumps of babies.
