Description
Teeny, tiny hand painted hippo. In Ancient Greek hippopotamus translates to "river horse" and since ancient times the hippo has been associated with life, fertility and motherhood. The Egyptian goddess of fertility, Tauret was represented by a pregnant hippopotamus and because the awesome beasts lived on the Nile, which Egyptians thought of as their source of life, the animal became endowed with the same spiritual meaning.
